The Neat Shores of the MacRitchie Reservoir

The MacRitchie Reservoir is one of the more well known parks in the Singapore. As the name suggests, the park is centered around the presence of the MacRitchie Reservoir. This reservoir was completed back in 1877 and is the oldest of its kind in Singapore. As expected of a reservoir, it supplies a significant portion of Singapore’s water supplier. It role used to be larger but the development of other water sources has led to the decline of importance of this body of water.

The reservoir is practically a man made lake which was carved out by the British. It is now still surrounded by thick rainforest and is a great place to walk around and go hiking. The park itself has numerous trails which are worth exploring, some of them go along the water’s edge, whilc others go through the rain forest. It is a very interesting place to visit and a wonderful change of pace for me. I can’t wait to start exploring.
