I really needed to get back home to Singapore after a very satisfying day of exploring Melaka. It was funny because the first time I came here, I didn’t find it all that interesting. However, probably with more time to myself, I got more chances to explore the town in detail. Anyway, I needed to get back to the main bus station of Melaka called Melaka Sentral. Fortunately it was easy enough to go back there. At the fountain area of the Melaka Town square is the stop of bus 17 which will bring me back to Melaka Sentral.

I didn’t have to wait very long as the bus arrived quite fast, I think it was still lucky for me since the traffic was quite bad that day. The bus had to go around town on its way to the bus station. I found out that another spot to wait for the bus would be at the large Jonker Street arch along that street. Anyway, I had a great view of the rest of Melaka as it passed through much of the city. The larger megamalls were at the outskirts of the city and conveniently located near the Melaka Sentral.

The Melaka Sentral is a more modern bus station compared to the other bus stations I have seen in Malaysia. In fact, this is probably as modern as it could get. The bus station consists of two circular wings. One is for local destinations such as downtown Melaka, the other is for regional destinations such as Kuala Lumpur or Singapore. The bus companies are neatly lined up which makes it easy for passengers to spot them. However, it took me a while to understand how it works. There was a large group of people crowding around the area and it made it a bit difficult to see the destinations.

The buses here were of good standard and comfortable, which I have come to expect of traveling in Malaysia. The prices were also quite reasonable, great in fact, coming from Singapore. It costs MYR 22 for a trip to Singapore. This is quite convenient for me since I would have to worry about finding transportation from Johor Bahru to Singapore.
