The walk through Fort Canning brings the visitor through some lovely wooded paths. It all leads to what probably is the centerpiece of the entire park – Fort Canning Centre. The Fort Canning Centre used to be the home of the British Army barracks, since the entire hill was a fortified zone. Much of the structure has been rebuilt and restored and it is now home of the singapore Dance Theatre. The grounds of Fort Canning Centre are also perfect for holding events. In fact many a foreign act has performed on the greens of Fort Canning Centre.
The Fort Canning Centre is an interesting structure to explore as this brings one back to the days of the British colonial days. From the windows of the Fort Canning Centre you see a good view of the surrounding area. Although the hallways are not airconditioned, the rooms are. The center also has function rooms where people can hold events like parties or wedding receptions. In fact, during my visit there was one such occasion.
