Roast Pork at Tai Heng Restaurant

On my first day in Hong Kong I was desperate to get roast goose that I entered the first shop which offers that. The name of the shop was Tai Heng 大兴烧味餐厅, they had a branch in Central and it was lunch hour together with the CBD folk. This, together with the language barrier of ordering food made for a rather stressful visit. Besides, their roast goose wasn’t really that nice.

When I met up with my friend a few days later after work, he brought me to Tai Heng Restaurant again, this time a branch in somewhere in Causeway Bay. This time, I ordered what was supposed to be one of their signature dishes. It was their roast pork. I actually noticed it when I first got there but I thought their goose would also be good. Anyway, I can say that this was one of the best roast pork I’ve ever had. The skin was thin and crunchy with hardly any layer of fat in it. Normally, I would get a layer of fat almost a centimeter thick. Yuck. Additionally, the meat itself was very tasty and a little saltish. I thought it was a satisfying meal, and I wouldn’t mind going back there again.
