At the end of Intramuros, I was trying to decide where to go. From here, you have access to Luneta Park, in what is probably the most well known and historical park in the Philippines. However, I have already visited this place several times, and there wasn’t any compelling reason for me to go there in the first place. I decided to visit one of the newer establishments in Manila. It has been said that the city of Manila itself doesn’t have too many attractions which will entice tourists to visit the city. In response to this, the Manila Ocean Park was built.

As the name implies, it is an oceanarium, patterned after Hong Kong’s Ocean Park and Singapore’s Underwater World. I was hoping they would be able to come up with a more original name but now it sound’s like a ripoff of the Ocean Park in Hong Kong. Anyway, this would be the second time I visited the place, the first was during its soft opening where a lot of other infrastructure was still under construction and it wasn’t a very pleasant experience. I didn’t go in that time because the central atrium was filled with students queueing up to visit the oceanarium. Manila residents get a discount. Two years later, with a much more less stressful environment, I’m back. I’m looking forward to the improvements they have made with this new landmark in Manila.
