Relaxing Viewing Platform at Labrador Park

Relaxing Viewing Platform at Labrador Park

The forest at the hill in Labrador park was quite thick and it surely provided a convenient umbrella for visitors here. The paths are not steep but gently climbing. At the end of the trail is a small viewing deck where people can see the sea. There is jetty just below and you can clearly see it from here. Being so near the port of Singapore, there are a lot of massive ships within view from the platform. This is probably the only place on the hill where you can see the sea now since most of the hill is filled with vegetation.

Amusingly when I got to the viewing platform. There was an elderly man who rolled out a mat and slept on the viewing platform. Apparently the viewing platform was too relaxing and he thought to sleep there. There used to be steps which led from the viewing platform all the way down, however they have been torn down possibly because it was deemed too dangerous for visitors to use it. It is also from this viewing deck that you can get an idea of how strategic Labrador Park was during World War II. It only made sense to put defense here since you can practically see everything here.
