Connected to the Alexandra Arch is yet another park in the Southern Ridges walk. This time it is the unceremoniously named Hortpark. This park is basically a park for horticulture enthusiasts. Needless to say, this park has a lot of plants in it. There were several exhibits about gardens and a few designs which are showcased to the public. Of course they also provide training on how to grow plants at home. Obviously this is not just your run of the mill park.

The park consists of a large covered area where there is also a restaurant which is beside a shallow pool. The pool is located on the second floor of the building and it has a good view of the rest of the park. The rest of the park on the other hand is a mix of gardens and activity area. At the time of my visit, there was an inline skating race. Some parts of the park were closed to the public when I was there probably because they were under renovation.

I’m not much of a horticulturist but I’m glad that there is something like that here. I guess it is natural for a country like Singapore to have something like this since they are pushing for a greener society. The Hortpark is a welcome addition and welcome variety to the Southern Ridges walk, even though it is not really up on a ridge anymore.
