Breakfast at Kota Khao Mun Kai

Roast Pork and Steamed Chicken

Roast Pork and Steamed Chicken

I got up early in the morning for someone needs to pick me up at the Joe Mansion that morning. It was still early so I have a little time for a quick breakfast. One of the nearest eateries that stumbled on was the Kota Khao Mun Kai. This was a little near the market but it has a simple neighborhood coffee shop feel to it. Apparently, they specialize in roast pork and steamed chicken.

Sounds familiar? It definitely was, however, I was expecting char siew type of taste, it was delightfully different from the “normal” char siew I have in Singapore. The steamed chicken I would admit was not even as tasty as the Hainanese Chicken Rice in Singapore. Maybe it wasn’t supposed to be. But it doesn’t really matter. This restaurant seems more Chinese rather than Thai and it really shows in the food. However, a sprinkling of Thai localizations have already shown in the form of fresh vegetables with the meat and chili sauce, if you need a little more zing.
