Patong Beach in Phuket is truly the number one reason why people come here and it is very much worthy of this. However, Patong Beach does have its downside. Glaring is the rampant prostitution found in the very grounds of this place. They appear out of nowhere when the sun starts to go down. In fact, the bars and restaurants in the area are some of their favorite haunting grounds. I won’t be surprised to find out if some people actually come here for that.
Obviously, this is not something I look forward to in a place. But it is a fact of life here and to their credit, they are not really that pushy but just hang around in one area just waiting for customers. I spent the rest of the afternoon just walking up and town the beautiful beach. But I remember to make sure to make it out of Patong Beach before sundown if not, there will not be a way for me to get back using public transportation. The taxi mafia has you all covered and will charge an arm and a leg to bring you back to town. In such cases, it might be better to just stay in the resorts here.
Patong Beach is a beautiful place, there are a lot of restaurants to choose from. Though this place it indeed a bit too touristy for my tastes, I’d rather find a much more quiet beach to hang out in. The other beaches in Phuket are said to be much more quiet than Patong, I think that is a good thing.
