Dinner on the Streets of Yangon

Now that the fun on the streets has finally ended, the guests at the Motherland Inn II decided to all go out for dinner, I since I was hanging around the lobby of the Motherland Inn II, they also invited me along. I’m glad since I would have someone to eat with for a change. I’m glad that when in other countries, fellow travellers seem to always get along, as with this this particular group. They also tend to have the same tolerances as well, in this case, eating on the streets. Our group was a rather healthy mix of countries, some from USA, Canada, Britain, and Italy.

One of the guys suggested a place they ate at previously and as we were going there, we passed by this chappathi place, where everyone started ordering. Curious, I also tried one of them and it was surprisingly good. The filling was a little saltish which suited me just fine. The stall we went to was just a roadside stall of Burmese food. They merely ordered local stuff, while I got my oily Burmese curry chicken. We were having a great conversation when suddenly the lights failed, and we were in pitch black darkness. One could have made a run for it and no one would know. But the lights eventually came back, apparently, the power failures in Yangon don’t last very long, thankfully.

It was a really nice meal there and my fears were unfounded since I was completely okay after eating their street food. I wouldn’t want to have stomach problems on the road, wouldn’t I? I made quite a few friends and some of them I am still in touch with.
