Dinner at Crocodile Grill

Award Winning Sisig of Crocodile Grill

Award Winning Sisig of Crocodile Grill

After a busy day of malling in Metro Manila, I was ready to have a nice dinner of Filipino Food. I was looking for a particular pizza place in SM City North Edsa, but unfortunately, they were under renovation. Quite disappointed, we went to Trinoma to find a nice place to eat. Near the outdoor fountain area was a group of restaurants. But the one that I wanted to try was Crocodile Grill.

A friend of mine told me that the sisig at Crocodile Grill was one of the best he’s ever had. And true enough, the sisig here is award winning as it says on the menu. The interiors of Crocodile Grill reminds me of other American theme restaurants like Friday’s and similar places, of course this Crocodile Grill has a Filipino touch to it. So sisig is a must here, so we ordered it. My friend strangely enough, ordered chicken in pandan leaves, here of all places.

Anyway, the chicken in pandan was expectedly uninteresting. I’ve had much better chicken in pandan in Thai restaurants but this was sure a poor imitation. The sisig on the other hand was superb. Sisig, as you may know is basically pig spare parts such as the face, ears and even the snout, chopped up with onions then served over a sizzling plate. Pork is not the only mean that can be turned into sisig. Chicken, tuna, mikfish and even tofu can be turned into sisig. It is known all over the Philippines as a drinking snack and have lots of regional variations to go with it. Crocodile Grill’s sisig has a nice chewy and crispy texture to it that it really gives a totally wonderful sensation in the mouth. This isn’t the healthiest food in the restaurant, or anywhere else for that matter, but you would be mad to miss this excellent rendition of sisig.
