I needed just one more stop before I go back to Tagbilaran City – Barangay Bool, which is actually in the outskirts of the city. Unfortunately, I completely missed the spot and my multi-cab headed straight for the Dau Bus Terminal. Knowing I wasted some time, I had to choice but to go with the flow. It was already lunch time and I was starving. Fortunately, right next to the Dau Bus Terminal is the huge Island City Mall.
The Island City Mall or ICM as the locals call it, is actually not that massive as the name implied especially when compared to the massive shopping malls in Manila. However, this is still quite big especially when you consider the size of Tagbilaran City. It also brings a bit of cosmopolitan air into the very rural Tagbilaran City. Island City Mall has long atrium surrounded by shops. It reminds me of one of the smaller malls I have been to in Manila, such as SM City Manila and Robinsons Pioneer. You can traverse the entire small in a few minutes. It has a lot of the same shops as its big brothers in Manila. I was hoping for a nice authentic Bohol meal but wasn’t able to find one.
I ended up in one of the most ubiquitous eating places in the country, none other than Jollibee. Whenever I am in the Philippines, I always make it a point to visit a Jollibee. In this trip I have already had my share of Chickenjoy and now I am back for more. This time I ordered their Burger Steak and one of their more recent offerings Crispy Bangus. Bangus is milkfish and it is eaten all over the country. For all that it is worth, I loved the Burger Steak. The sauce has always delighted my tastebuds, even the burger patty always had that nice texture I have come to love. The Crispy Bangus was surprisingly nice and I wouldn’t mind having that again. Although I am far away from Manila, I wouldn’t mind to have this kind of luxury once in a while.
