Alona Beach

It turns out I didn’t really need the air-conditioning in my cottage at Alona Grove. The air was fresh and the electric fan did a very good job of circulating the air in the room. Maybe it also helped that I was dead tired from the exploring I have been doing all this time. As usual, whenever I am on a trip, I tend to sleep early and still get up very early in the morning. In this case, I was already awake at 5:30 in the morning. The sun rises at around this time and by the time I got out it was already bright outside.

Along the beach, all the outrigger canoes were all parked just waiting for passengers. Most of these outriggers were from the dive shops that line the beach. They also leave quite early in the morning to bring their clients to their dive sites. This early there are still a couple of them still waiting along the beach. The beach itself is relatively deserted with hardly anyone swimming. A few vistors were jogging along the fine white sand of Alona Beach.

Alona Beach itself is quite short unlike its more famous counterparts in the other islands. The beach got its name from the fact that an actress named Alona Alegre once filmed an advertisement here. From that time on, the name stuck. I wonder if she got any royalties from that. My walk was nice and relaxing, surprisingly because I always sleep way into the morning. However, I won’t be spending much of the day here in Alona Beach I headed out of the beach and looked for some transportation to my next destination.
