Going to Emei City

Beside a Small River in Leshan

Beside a Small River in Leshan

Just as expected, the lady we met outside the entrance of the Leshan Giant Buddha Park was waiting for us right where we left her. She was a tall, heavily built woman with not very Chinese features, although she speaks perfect Chinese as far as I can tell. She then brought to their waiting vehicle just beside the park entrance.

Unfortunately, we still cannot leave yet, since we are still waiting for some more people. The driver kept telling us that if we want to leave now, he will have to increase the transportation fare since there will be less of us sharing the vehicle. But of course, we have time to spare and not in a hurry to get to Emei City, so we waited. And waited. And waited. But it seems like no one will be coming so, finally, it seems like our driver got sick of waiting and he started the engine and left. However, instead of immediately heading to their place, he went back and apparently was looking for another exit of the Leshan Giant Buddha Park.

It would seem that the lady at the entrance also managed to talk to a few more tourists and got them to agree to got back to their place with them. Unfortunately, it would seem that they had no intention of coming back. I’m not sure whether there are still more exits but our driver seems to be intent of waiting this one out.

We passed by a small river just outside the park. The river was lined with plants and a certain yellow flowering plant which I came to know as rapeseed 油菜花. This plant seems to be planted all over the place. It is used by the Chinese as their cooking oil. And the Chinese, being the most populous country in the world also are the world’s largest producer of rapeseed oil. Besides its practical uses, the rapeseed flower is also nice to look at with it brilliant yellow color. The plant would be cultivated in vast fields giving the fields a very wonderful yellow color.

This river was surrounded by the rapeseed flowers. The green, yellow and red colors of the plants really liven up the scene. I asked the driver to stop along the river while they head to the exit. I really wanted to take photos of this place. The spot where I was was bounded by two bridges. The one nearer the park was a nice reddish Chinese bridge. It was really are really nice scene and to think this isn’t even a tourist attraction at all.

Soon, our driver came back and apparently fed up. He asked me to get on their car and we started our journey to Emei City.
