Morning at Saud Beach

Morning at Saud Beach

We had a great night’s sleep at the resort in Saud Beach in Pagudpud. Most especially me, since I still have to catch up from the lack of sleep from the previous nights. We breeze was nice and cool especially here north of the Philippines.

Before we leave Saud Beach in the morning, we tried walking down the length of the beach itself, something we didn’t do the previous afternoon. There weren’t a lot of tourists on the beach this early in the morning. But this early, we saw fishermen already coming back from the sea and already pulling up their outrigger canoes. The were also hauling up their catch presumably to be sold in the market or bought by the resorts. We actually saw the fishermen haul up a ray unfortunately, I was too far to get a photo of it.

We watched the fishermen do their work at the same time realizing that we have it good, since we do not need to wake up that early in the morning and battle the elements every single day. The sea was already quite rough. I guess it is always the case there in the north. The wind is quite strong all the time. My friends quickly ran towards the water since there was nobody swimming at that time. The big waves crashing onto the beach got the better of me so I just preferred to stay dry.

We continued walking further up the beach, it was actually quite hard for me to do it. Since I was not used to sand getting into my footwear, so I fell further and further behind. Meanwhile, the beach has turned from nice white sand beach into rock, making it even more difficult to walk. When it became clear that we cannot pass anymore, we relaxed for a while, and at the same time, taking time to enjoy what has now become rugged terrain, before heading back to the resort to check out.

The original plan was to continue on to Maira-ira town where there is a nice blue lagoon, unfortunately, it was a little too far away and we didn’t have the luxury of time since we need to get back to Laoag city soon. Anyway, I don’t think we would be able to take nice photos of the lagoon anyway, since it seemed like the entire day will be overcast. So we grabbed a tricycle and headed out to the main highway to catch our ride back.
