I am finally back in the town of Siem Reap. It was a really tiring day moving from one temple to another. Exploring the temples is also tiring because of the size of the temples themselves. Now all that exploring has made me really hungry, I’m ready for some dinner. Just behind the Siem Reap Market are a row of fine dining restaurants. These are obviously for tourists. The restaurants mostly serve local Khmer dishes. There are also some which serve other cuisines like Thai, Western, Chinese and Japanese. Here it doesn’t feel like we were in a third world country at all.

Upon the recommendation of our travel guide, we decided to eat at the Khmer Kitchen. The place was very well lit and has that touch of class to it. We ordered the Curry Tofu and Sour Soup with Chicken. I didn’t really get to note down what the names of the food were, but I can assure you they were quite good.

The curry tofu wasn’t spicy and fortunately for me, the coconut taste isn’t that strong. The sour soup is basically tom yam soup with no chili. It was also good. The restaurants here all list their prices in US dollars. In fact pretty much everything else in Siem Reap is quoted in dollars, from souvenir shops to bootleg books. Which was a little disappointing to me, since I could never know what the actual cost of living there was.
