Arriving at Siem Reap International Airport was a pleasant experience. Although passengers will have to get off the plane and onto the tarmac, the plane wasn’t parked that far away from the terminal building. In fact it was just right in front of the terminal building. Probably because at that time ours was the only plane there at that time.

Excited Tourists

The terminal building of Siem Reap International Airport is very attractive. Although, it wasn’t nowhere as big as the immense Hong Kong International Airport. It doesn’t even look high tech nor modern. Instead the terminal of Siem Reap International Airport exudes a certain charm not present in many airport terminal. It actually takes the form a traditional Khmer house.

We were so impressed that we started snapping pictures without even entering the airport terminal. Entering the terminal it feels like we entered a museum. There were a lot of sculptures on display. I was thinking that if this was just the airport, then it must be really impressive when we get to the temple sites.

Baggage Claim Area

To pass through immigration every visitor will have to have their picture taken by immigration by a small webcam. I believe that was the first time I’ve ever been photographed at immigration. Their system was likewise computerized, so passing through immigration was a breeze.

Impressive Art in the Terminal

Right after immigration is the baggage claim counter. And just like the immigration area, there are a lot of tastefully done art pieces. While waiting for our luggage, we continued taking pictures. This is probably the first time I’ve taken so many pictures at an airport terminal upon arrival.

Soon enough, our baggage rolled out of the carousel. And we quickly went out to meet the guys from the hotel who will be fetching us. I will always remember this to be one of the most beautiful airport terminals, I’ve ever been to.
