I’m no expert in Singapore food, but I know what I like. So whenever I have visitors to Singapore, and they want to eat local Singapore food, I always bring them to No Signboard Seafood Restaurant.

You might find it strange to have a restaurant with that kind of name, but probably probably when they were just a small stall they didn’t have a signboard to identify them. This probably stuck as the stall grew up and now as branches.

So what do I order here? And absolute must for me is the Singapore Chili Crab. This is an awesome dish that will leave on hungry for more. The chili sauce is given more flavor by the crab roe. The Sri Lankan crab is huge and has a lot of meat. Underneath the shell of the crab is most of the roe. We would carve out every last bit of the roe. You can also order some fried buns to dip into the sauce. In fact the sauce is so good that I would just eat it all by itself.

This is obviously not the healthiest food around but I would gladly recommend this to anyone who can take seafood. The chili is not really that bad, but then I just adore chili. I have a friend who cannot take a lot of chili and was able to survive it. So I guess it really isn’t that spicy.

No Signboard Seafood Restaurant has branches at Geylang, Vivo City, East Coast, the Esplanade, even in Jakarta and Macau. Probably the most accessible one is the one at the Esplanade. A far cry from the original one at Geylang, the Esplanade looks much like a full fledged Chinese restaurant. It is air-conditioned and service is good, although there seem to be a lot of waiters who cannot speak English. But not to worry the menu has English so it should be no problem ordering.
